Ethical Practice & Abuse Mitigation
As an AI-native workspace built for high-stakes legal engineering, Solon imposes strict usage constraints to prevent the generation of fake precedents, unauthorized practice of law (UPL), and the compromise of client confidentiality. Violation of these guidelines may result in immediate account suspension.
[01]Unauthorized Practice of Law (UPL)
Solon must not be used to bypass licensed legal representation or to counsel members of the public without professional supervision:
- No Direct Consumer Advising: You may not build consumer-facing interfaces that use Solon to provide automated legal advice or fill out legal forms for unrepresented litigants without active advocate supervision.
- Professional Intent: Solon is designed for legal professionals (including attorneys, corporate counsel, paralegals, and law students). Non-legal professionals or pro se litigants utilizing the tool for personal matters must not rely on generated outputs as a substitute for licensed legal counsel.
[02]Hallucinated Citations & Fabricated Precedent
Attorneys have an absolute duty of candor to the court. Misleading judicial officers is a serious disciplinary offense:
- No Fabrication: You must not knowingly use Solon to generate, copy, or submit pleadings or briefs containing fictitious case citations, statutes, or holdings to any court or arbitration panel.
- Mandatory Verification: You must cross-reference and verify all generated authorities against official reporters, gazettes, or trusted legal databases (e.g. Kenya Law Reports, LexisNexis).
[03]Privacy, Privilege & Sovereign Data Custody
You must handle client personal and case data responsibly:
- Client Consent: You must ensure you have the appropriate client authorization or legal basis before processing documents containing personally identifiable information (PII) or protected health details.
- Compliance with Regional Acts: Your use of Solon must comply with applicable regional privacy regulations (e.g. Kenya's Data Protection Act, GDPR, CCPA).
[04]Prohibited Content & Abuse Patterns
We prohibit the use of Solon's parsing or generation capabilities for the following activities:
- Automated Harassment: Generating high-volume, automated demand letters, cease-and-desist notices, or vexatious complaints intended to overwhelm, bully, or harass third parties.
- Deceptive Correspondence: Generating legal correspondence that misrepresents your professional standing, or using the tool to impersonate another attorney or firm.
- System Exploitation: Reverse-engineering the desktop client, abusing token limits, or executing denial-of-service attacks on our backend credit ledgers.
